"Nothing got rid of the smell. Bought Fabulosa (unicorn fragrance) washing machine cleaner and it worked! It's only 99p from home bargains and you don't even need to use the whole bottle, just 125ml."
Explaining how she used the product, she detailed: "Put it into the detergent drawer and put machine onto a short hot wash.
"While the machine was on the kitchen smelled beautifully, now there's a very slight fragrance coming from the drum but no bad smell. Just in case this helps someone!"

To use the 250ml product, remove the lid and pour 125ml into the soap dispenser, then run a short hot cycle. Repeat again if necessary.
The 'Unicorn Dust' cleaner is only suitable for washing machine soap dispensers, and older machine users should consult their local engineer to confirm suitability.
According to Fabulosa, its washing machine cleaner is a "cost-effective way to keep your washing machine clean, hygienic, and free from bad odours".
It also promises to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria and viruses*, creating lasting freshness, and leaving a scent like Unicorn Dust.
The brand also asserts: "Using Fabulosa Washing Machine Cleaner helps prolong the lifespan of your washing machine by penetrating deep into the drum to remove limescale and ensure a thorough cleaning experience."
